A new fuel oil spill, which was recorded off the coast of the village of Taman in the Temryuk district, was captured on video. Footage from the scene was published by the Krasnodar Territory Operational Headquarters on its Telegram channel.
The video shows a part of the tanker Volganeft-239, which was thrown aground off the coast of Kuban. A spill of oil products began from the stern of the vessel. According to the Russian Ministry of Transport, the area of the slick reaches 2.8 thousand square meters. Five vessels, as well as a coastal rescue service with equipment and special equipment, were sent to the site of the accident to eliminate the consequences.
At the moment, specialists are trying to localize the spill using booms. Then the fuel oil will be removed from the sea surface using a biosorbent.
Earlier, seven new fuel oil spills were recorded in the east and west of Crimea. Beaches in Kerch , Yevpatoria , Saksky and Leninsky districts, as well as on Tuzla Island were contaminated. The total length of the area affected by fuel oil reaches 14.38 kilometers.
